Does anyone ever click on that tiny About link at the bottom of every page? I don't, and I almost missed my own promotion!
On August 8th, I threw aside my umbrella to completely immerse myself in the rain as the new VP of Product Development. It "only" took 15 days for me to blog about it – as you might've noticed, we've been in torrential-downpour-mode for the last few weeks!
I was an independent contractor for several years. The hours were great, the pay was fantastic, and I got to take epic 2 hours lunches. But nothing in life is more consistent than change, and that's what happened when I met the ActiveRain team and the incredibly supportive community. I knew that I couldn't be the "hired gun" anymore — I wanted to make a real difference, and now I've been afforded that opportunity.
I'm done patting myself on the back. After finishing dinner at a Chinese restaurant, my fortune cookie read "Exciting times ahead for ActiveRain". Fake story, but an honest sentiment. The next few months are going to be fun, and there's nowhere I'd rather be!

Congratulations. So does this mean you will relocate to Seattle and "unpack instead of living out of boxes"? :-)
I think I clicked on the about button before, nice to look again. There were a couple of people there I hadn't heard of yet, so will check out to see if they have blogged and I missed it.
Jorgen, Congratulations!! Funny you mention the fortune cookie. My husband was up for a promotion and the day he started the process we went to dinner at Chinese and the fortune cookie said "Be alert for new opportunities- pleasure or business" We looked at each other and thought - cool. The process was 8 months long and this month he received word he will be promoted - the Navy does things in a very funny way. Anyway I still have that fortune cookie "fortune" - it is on my fridge! Gosh, I inherited the gift of gab from my father!
So are you moving to the Seattle area?
Jorgen- we are so glad you are here...yo have done some really awesome things and I so look forward to the future stuff you come up with!
I'm really glad to have you on board Jorgen!!
(real story, real sentiment) :-)
ActiveRain product development is in good hands! I am very excited thinking about what we will accomplish together as a team.
No - but now I have - thanks. It looks like AR is a little heavily overbalanced on the testosterone side... y'all need to mix it up a little more.
Regarding Localism.... I updated my profile pic and it didn't update over to Localism, in the little neighbor box. (hawaii - maui)
THANKS
Say goodbye to those 2 hours lunches. hahahahaha~ Excited to have you on board and looking forward to the changes and your contributions. Bring on the Lightning and Thunder Jorgen. :-)
BTW- 2 Hour Lunches?!?! I am lucky to even get a 10 minute break some days!

Jorgen, that's absolutely wonderful! Kudos and congrats! That is awesome! :-)
Morning Jorgen,
Congratulatons and good luck in your new venture. Two hour lunches do get old after a while. Unpack those boxes and enjoy the "Yet to come!"
Jorgen! Congratulations on your promotion from AR hamster to VP! Couldn't happen to a nicer guy - couldn't happen if you didn't deserve it.
When you get caught up, could you tell us a little more about yourself? Not just where you are from - you're not in Kansas anymore, or are you? What do you do besides fix everything? What's your middle name? What do you like? What did you do on those 2 hour lunches?
Congratulations on your VP promotion. I had not noticed the "About"...
